Reptile Gardens
See. Learn. Laugh. Stroll through our garden oasis of colorful blooms, lush vegetation, and well-manicured lawns… you may even get the rare opportunity to have an up close and personal animal encounter. They opened in 1937 and are a part of the "Wildest Pair in the Black Hills" with Bear Country U.S.A. Their gift shop has all kinds of items, and their animal shows are second to none. Located right on HWY 16 on the way from Rapid City to Mt. Rushmore and just down the hill from Bear Country USA.

The 1880 Train
The 1880 Train is beyond imagination. Take a ride like they did back in the day! It runs from Keystone to Hill City daily and is absolutely something you should not miss while in the Black Hills area.

The Mammoth Site
The world’s largest mammoth research facility where you tour an active paleontology dig site. If you're near Hot Springs, it is an absolute must see.

Crazy Horse Memorial
Ok, so you thought we only had Mt. Rushmore....well we have another mountain carving going on. The memorial depicts Crazy Horse riding a horse and pointing forward, symbolizing his leadership and resistance against U.S. expansion into Native lands. The site also includes the Indian Museum of North America and the Native American Educational & Cultural Center, highlighting Indigenous history and culture.

Pactola Lake
If you're near Hill City with some time to spare, consider renting a pontoon from Pactola Marina—and don’t forget to grab some of their famous broasted chicken before you set off. Located on Highway 385 between Hill City and Deadwood, Pactola Lake is easily the most picturesque lake in the Black Hills. Its deep waters tend to stay cold, so be prepared, but cruising on a pontoon through the stunning scenery is an experience you won’t want to miss.
